There is never a dull moment at The Botanic Silverdale but unlike many retirement villages, the majority of our events and well-being activities are resident-led. Our village staff don’t tell you how to live your life, we just provide you with the world-class amenities and let you get on with it. You can engage as much or as little as you like.
Positioned in the centre of the village is the beating social heart of The Botanic Silverdale. The award-winning Clubhouse Café has an enticing menu of à la carte dining and fresh cabinet food designed by our Food and Beverage team. There is a large dining area, fully stocked bar, outdoor barbeque space, and floor-to-ceiling glass which takes in views across the garden, nearby stream, and the new three-rink bowling green. It is open to the public except on Thursday evenings when The Clubhouse is for the exclusive use of our residents.
The café sits alongside some of The Botanic’s other world class facilities including a state-of the-art Wellness Centre with an indoor resort-style 20m swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym and fitness studio.
Some of our residents invite friends and family over for lunch or drinks and dinner at the Cafe, and the pool has become a big hit with some of their grandchildren at the weekend.
One of the most impressive resident-led amenities is the large Community Garden which includes two 26m2 ‘Winter Gardenz’ glasshouses connected by a pergola. The glasshouses are surrounded by 24 planter boxes and an edible garden of fruit trees including feijoa, citrus, persimmon, fig, apple, avocado, stone fruits, grapes, and berries.
There is a large garden shed onsite which houses all the tools, and a well-run community of avid gardeners keeps the fresh produce coming. It is a magnificent structure which is proving very popular with our residents, and is believed to be unique to retirement living facilities in New Zealand.
In time, The Botanic Silverdale will be home to a cinema, library, golf simulator, men’s shed and pétanque facilities too.
The Botanic earned its name because of its commitment to magnificent landscaping. The eight-hectare site is connected by a series of tree and plant-lined pathways which meander through the village. Many of our residents come from the Hibiscus Coast area and say the arrival of The Botanic Silverdale was a blessing because it meant they could continue to live and thrive in an area they love.
Once fully constructed, the village will provide a full continuum of care including a rest home and hospital level care, and a specialised memory care centre.
