Manuka Care

Manuka Care

Coming soon to The Botanic Hibiscus Coast, Manuka Care will redefine what aged care can be.

• Person-centred Care
• Supporting Independence
• Meaningful Connections

Inspired by international research and innovative care models, we have embraced a smaller-scale approach to aged care and memory care that places people, relationships and quality of life at the centre of everything we do.

Our purpose is to create a care community that elevates what aged care can be by enabling people to continue living meaningful lives through person-directed care, small-home living, clinical excellence, dignity, choice and connection.

Our philosophy is informed by evidence-based practices championed by leading academic research into person-centred care and dementia support.

We believe that moving into care should not mean giving up your identity, independence, routines, relationships or sense of purpose. Instead, it should provide the support, security and companionship needed to continue living a meaningful life in a place that genuinely feels like home.

Transforming the culture of care

At Manuka Care, care is not something that is done to people. It is something we provide with people.

Our approach is built around understanding each person’s history, preferences, abilities and aspirations. We take the time to listen, learn and adapt, ensuring support is tailored to the person rather than expecting the person to fit a predetermined routine.

Just as the Manuka tree is regarded as a taonga (treasure) in Māori tradition, we recognise the inherent value, dignity and uniqueness of every individual in our care. By embracing a truly person-directed approach, we enhance wellbeing, enrich quality of life, and create greater peace of mind for both residents and their loved ones.

Many providers today have embraced aspects of smaller-scale care models. Our difference lies not simply in the physical environment, but in the culture of care we create and deliver – where people are genuinely known, valued and supported to continue living with purpose, dignity, choice and connection.

The benefits of ‘small-home’ living

Traditional institutionalised care environments can often feel overwhelming and disconnected from everyday life. The small-home model offers a different way forward.

Designed around smaller households and meaningful relationships, Manuka Care aspires to create a sense of belonging, familiarity and comfort. Residents are supported by a consistent team who know them well, helping to foster trust, confidence and genuine connection.

Research has shown that smaller-scale care environments can lead to improved emotional wellbeing, greater engagement in daily life, stronger social connections and better overall outcomes for older people, particularly those living with dementia.

Support that respects individuality

Whether someone requires rest home care, hospital-level care or specialised memory care, our focus remains the same: supporting each person to live as independently and meaningfully as possible.

We make space for what matters most to each person. From daily routines, meals and activities through to how time is spent, care is shaped around personal preference, not rigid rules, timetables or systems. Families are always welcome, community connections are encouraged, and the things that bring comfort, familiarity and joy are embraced.

Because no two people are the same, the support we provide is never one-size-fits-all, but thoughtfully tailored to each person’s life, values and choices.

A better experience for residents and families

Choosing care is one of life’s most significant decisions. We understand the emotions, questions and concerns that can come with that journey.

Our goal is to create an environment where residents feel valued, respected and at home, and where families feel confident knowing their loved one is receiving compassionate, professional and highly personalised support.

At Manuka Care, we’re creating a new standard for aged care – one that prioritises dignity, choice, connection and quality of life.

A place that feels like home. A life that’s your own.
