An introduction to The Botanic Silverdale

Welcome to The Botanic: Luxury Retirement Living in Silverdale

Situated in the heart of Silverdale, The Botanic is a resort-style retirement village where nature, wellness, community, and connection come together to support Residents to live the lives they choose.

The Botanic is more than just a place to live. The village has been designed to support and nurture the wellbeing of Residents who live alongside beautifully landscaped walkways, tranquil gardens, and thoughtfully designed spaces which are rich in nature and natural beauty.

Silverdale: A Prime Location for Retirement Living

The Botanic Silverdale is situated in a prime location on the stunning Hibiscus Coast, an area celebrated for its warm climate, breathtaking beaches, walking trails, and serene East Coast beauty.

The Botanic’s location offers Residents the very best of both worlds: a peaceful resort-style retirement immersed in nature and close to the sea, but it is also a short and easy drive to central Auckland, or the northern holiday destinations of Matakana, Omaha, Mangawhai, Keri Keri, and the magical Bay of Islands.

Orewa Beach is just one of many beaches close to The Botanic Silverdale.

The pristine beaches of Orewa, Red Beach, Stanmore Bay, Arkles, and Manly are all close by, and many of our Residents are often seen on the water’s edge taking leisurely strolls with friends or their dogs, swimming in the sea, or simply taking in the beautiful views and the fresh ocean air.

The Botanic is home to over 160 Residents and more retirees are moving in throughout 2025 as our village continues to grow and develop.

Amenities and Lifestyle in and around Silverdale

The amenities in Silverdale are new and plentiful, and more are on the way in this fast-developing area as it becomes increasingly popular with young families, professionals and commuters, and families seeking a healthier, more nature-orientated lifestyle and community.

The major supermarket chains including PAK’nSave and Woolworths are close by, and Bunnings, Animates, King’s Plant Barn, FruitWorld, and Oceanz Seafood are all situated just a few hundred meters from The Botanic Silverdale.

The Botanic’s Clubhouse Café is open 7-days week and is hugely popular with Residents and locals, but there are also plenty of cafes and restaurants located throughout Silverdale and Orewa offering a delightful mix of casual and gourmet dining in a relaxed, coastal environment. Irrespective of whether you’re after a fresh cup of artisan coffee, a hearty brunch, or a sophisticated dinner, there’s something to suit every taste. Travelling beyond the Hibiscus Coast to shop is made simple because of the village’s proximity to State Highway One. It’s a 15 minute drive to Westfield Mall in Albany and if you don’t want to drive, the Park and Ride is just across the road from The Botanic’s main entrance. It’s a short stroll across the road to access the major Northern bus routes via the Park and Ride, and it’s free if you have a Super Gold Card too.

The Silverdale Mall is a short 5 minute drive from The Botanic Silverdale.

Closer to home, the Silverdale Mall boasts many of the major retail chains including Farmers, Stevens, Whitcoulls, Michael Hill, 2degrees, Specsavers, Kathmandu, Deejay Shoes, Hartleys, Spark, Fabulous Flowers, Pascoes, Vivo Salon, and Sierra Café.

There are a number of medical centres in Silverdale and an increasing number of specialist health services including The Northern Specialist Centre on Painton Road. The Northern Specialist Centre is walking distance from The Botanic and is home to a number of experts offering services in radiology, cardiology, musculoskeletal health, surgery, physiotherapy, ENT, on-site pharmacy, x-ray, physiotherapy, dental, and hearing clinics.

For those who enjoy a round of golf, the nearby Wainui Golf Club boasts a championship 18-hole course amidst rolling hills and natural waterways. In Army Bay, the Whangaparaoa Golf Club has stunning coastal views, and Northridge Country Lodge has a picturesque 9-hole course which will suit casual golfers.

The Botanic: Integrating with the Local Community

The Botanic is the Hibiscus Coast’s premier resort-style retirement village, and Residents are a vibrant and important part of the community who contribute much to the local environment and economy.

Unlike many villages, The Botanic Silverdale has been designed to be an integral part of the Silverdale community, not fenced off from it.  Residents aren’t locked in behind large foreboding fences, and the community isn’t locked out of the village either.

To embrace inclusivity, The Clubhouse Café is open to the public and integrates seamlessly into the Silverdale community with a strong focus on the importance of connection, collaboration, and contributing to the wider community.

The Silverdale Business Association recently held a Women in Business event panel at The Clubhouse Cafe.

The Clubhouse Café regularly hosts community events and is a firm favourite with many Silverdale businesses who host breakfasts, meetings, and events in this award-winning building.

The Botanic is also proud of the important role it plays in supporting and partnering with many businesses in the area, and the village helps to sustain and strengthen the local economy while contributing to investment in Silverdale and the Hibiscus Coast region.

World-Class Amenities at The Botanic

The Botanic Silverdale is designed to offer residents a premium lifestyle through an impressive range of amenities that prioritise connection, wellness, community, purpose and joy.

The state-of-the-art Wellness Centre includes a 20m lap pool, spa, sauna and stream room, plus a full gymnasium. Aquacise, yoga, nautical walking, and strength and balance classes are just some of the fitness classes on offer at The Botanic.

Situated alongside The Clubhouse Café is a championship-level three rink bowling green which is a firm favourite with Residents.

The Community Garden is a resident-led project and is the pride and joy of the village. It is a significant amenity encompassing two 26m2 ‘Winter Gardenz’ glasshouses, and 24 large raised planter boxes producing significant quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Garden also includes areas to barbeque and dine, and is run by a committee of Residents who are also keen gardeners.

Two women stand by a raised vegetable garden, one woman holds up a freshly harvested beetroot.
The Community Gardens bring our Residents together to share their knowledge, love, and experience of growing and tending vegetable gardens and orchards.

Near the Rimu apartments, there is also a multi-purpose space called “The Hub” where a number of social and hobby groups meet including a Christian Club, music groups, a Whiskey Appreciation Group, and art and mahjong classes.

More amenities are in development including a golf simulator, cinema, and a full continuum-of-care offering is also in development.

The Silverdale community offers many amenities too including community days and local markets.

Living Options at The Botanic

The Botanic Silverdale offers residents thoughtfully designed living options that cater to a variety of needs and lifestyles for retirees.

The Nikau and Rimu apartments provide modern, low maintenance living which is perfect for those seeking a ‘lock up and leave’ lifestyle. The apartments are filled with light, offer views across Silverdale, the village, or into the landscaped gardens, and come with underground carparking. Every apartment has a private balcony or patio, and enjoys easy access to all of The Botanic’s many amenities.

Our apartments are spacious and light-filled. They have been designed for those seeking the ‘lock up and leave’ lifestyle.
Apartment G06 in the Rimu Apartments has a large balcony with incredible views. It is available to move in now.

The villas also offer independent living. Like the apartments, they are single-level homes with generous layouts, one to three bedrooms, full kitchens, walk-through wardrobes, fully tiled bathrooms, and garages which are accessed internally. Villas have a private garden or patio, or in some cases a deck.

Be sure to check out our available homes.

In time, The Botanic will also offer a full continuum of care. This will provide specialised residential aged care including high level home care support, and memory suite.

Conclusion: The Best of Both Worlds

The Botanic Silverdale is the premier world class retirement village on the Hibiscus Coast and offers the very best in resort-style retirement living.

What truly sets The Botanic apart is its commitment to creating an environment that supports retirees to live a purposeful retirement surrounded by nature and world-class amenities.
